For the judgment/decree or terms of the case, request the court document from the Orange County Clerk of Superior Court, (919) 644-4500. Give the case number, party names and document wanted; ask whether certification is needed and confirm the clerk’s copy charge and delivery method. Court judgments come from the county where the divorce was granted for a fee.

For certificate-level event information, NC Vital Records holds divorce certificates from 1958 to the present. The state’s nonrefundable standard search fee is $24 per three-year period, including one copy if found; processing and shipping charges may apply. A certificate is distinct from the judgment and underlying case documents. The county clerk is also a certificate option.
